Some policemen attached to the Orile Division have arrested a suspected robber, Jimmy Peter. The police in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, said the suspect was arrested with a toy around 9pm on Sunday.
He said the suspect and others at large were on an unregistered motorcycle along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway when they were accosted by policemen on patrol.
Nwosu said the other two suspects fled while Peter was arrested. He said after searching Peter, the police found a toy gun on him.
He said, “Around 9pm on November 2, 2014, a patrol team attached to the Orile Division while on patrol along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway by Orile Bus Stop, intercepted three men suspected to be armed robbers on an unregistered motorcycle.
“One of the suspects named Jimmy Peter of no fixed address was arrested with a toy gun while others escaped. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing hoodlums. The case is under investigation at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.”
Nwosu added that last Saturday, a police team from the Iponri Division responded to a distress call at the Iponri Grammar School and Olaleye areas of Ebute-Meta and arrested seven hoodlums who were attacking and dispossessing passers-by of their belongings.
